Civil Engineer Intern

About the role

Join Aecon’s Civil East sector as a Civil Engineer Intern and work alongside experienced professionals on infrastructure projects such as bridges, highways, tunnels and airports. The 12‑month term offers hands‑on experience in cost monitoring, design support and project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare simple plans, designs, calculations, cost estimates and bills of material following codes and standards.
• Support monitoring of project costs, material quantities and scheduling.
• Assist in interpreting plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors.
• Manage project‑specific material and equipment purchases, vendor relations and invoice processing.
• Help prepare bids and proposals for new work.
• Generate RFIs and NCRs to address design changes and technical issues.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering or related degree program.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Self‑motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.
