Electrical Engineer Intern

About the role

Join Aecon’s Civil East sector as an Electrical Engineer Intern, supporting project teams on complex infrastructure projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop electrical designs, perform calculations, and assist with project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with electrical engineering assignments of limited to moderate complexity, including updating blueprints and schematics using AutoCAD or Revit.
• Perform basic electrical calculations for power loads, voltage drops, lighting, and short circuits, and maintain detailed design documentation.
• Coordinate electrical scopes of work across facilities, review M&E drawings and specifications, and identify constructability issues.
• Support testing, commissioning, and system turnover activities, including documentation and close‑out requirements.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering degree program.
• Understanding of basic AC/DC circuits, three‑phase power, and relevant international codes.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD (and preferably Revit) for electrical design.
