Quantity Surveyor Internship

About the role

Join Aecon’s Civil East sector as a Quantity Surveyor Intern and work alongside experienced professionals to support project cost management, risk mitigation, and contract administration on complex infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with project development and delivery to align with schedules and budgets.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotes and support contract drafting and negotiation.
• Submit interim applications for executed works, on‑site materials, and subcontractor work by deadlines.
• Assess, measure, and recover contract variations and verify additional payments.
• Review, evaluate, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
• Participate in dispute resolution, process payments, and issue notices to suppliers and subcontractors.
• Contribute to weekly financial forecasting and compile contract cost data.
• Prepare estimates and monitor costs throughout the project.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related construction program.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Knowledge of contract language, terms, conditions, and bonding.
• Basic understanding of job cost fundamentals and accounting principles.
• Self‑motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Capable of working accurately under pressure, both independently and in a team.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.
